As a child, Jonah Hager always had a predilection towards singing and dancing; as a senior at Wiregrass Ranch High School (WRHS), it is no surprise that Hager has become the President of the school’s Thespian Honors Society. Director, choreographer, and actor, Hager’s talents are all-encompassing.

However, it was not until middle school that Hager discovered the magic of musical theatre.

“I started in seventh grade, and after that I kind of realized that this is what I want to do with my life,” said Hager. “So, after that, I just joined everything I could; I just stuck with it.”

Five years later, Hager has risen to the top of the WRHS Drama Department. Maintaining the position of President of the WRHS chapter of the Thespian Honors Society might seem like a difficult proposition for most, but Hager is taking the responsibilities in strides. In fact, Hager already has plenty of plans for this years’ troupe.

“We have thespian competition; we are doing ‘Hairspray’. Then, hopefully, we can do ‘Rent’,” explained Hager.

The plans Hager has for the Thespian Society has not kept him from thinking about his future.

“Obviously, I am applying to colleges,” nodded Hager. “for theatre and stuff like that.”

While applying to colleges is not an entirely unique concept for a WRHS student to be exploring, Hager, when asked what his post-college plans are, had only the biggest and brightest of aspirations.

“New York City! Broadway! The Tony’s! That would be fun,” smiled Hager.

Despite Hager’s involvement and devotion to his craft being more than enough to marvel at, it is his friends that truly shed light on this thespian with a heart of gold.

Taylor D’Onofrio, a senior, had plenty of great things to say about Hager.

“He is so polite,” beamed D’Onofrio. “Jonah always goes out of his way for people.”

Drama teacher, Mrs. Hornsby is very proud of Hager’s accomplishments.

“Besides being an outstanding student in our theatre program, Jonah also does community theatre where he has taken on three major roles including his most recent as Will Parker in “Oklahoma.”
