Wiregrass dominates at the Sunshine Conference Track Meet

The Wiregrass Ranch Track team was victorious in both the men’s and women’s divisions at the 2017 Sunshine Conference Track Meet, which was held here at the Ranch. A heap of Wiregrass athletes finished in first for their respective events, their individual points all contributing to the Bull’s overall win.

Coach Marvin Gray predicted the team’s achievements before-hand.

“We expect to get a victory and the conference championship,” Gray commented.

Notable successes came in events such as the Girl’s 800 Meter Dash, where Wiregrass runners Kerry Reilly, Brenna Moran, and Kate Moore finished in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively. Dylan Ridolph and Josiah Gadsen finished 1st and 2nd place in the Boy’s 110 Meter Hurdles and then 2nd and 3rd place in the 300 Meter Hurdles.

Other notable accomplishments include:

  • Dylan Teets took home 1st place in the Boy’s Discus Throw, while Janiya Buchannon got 2nd place in the Girl’s division.
  • Porcia Boatneg and Kasean Ridgel earned 2nd place for the Girl’s and Boy’s Shot Put
  • Adrian Thomas finished 3rd place in the Boy’s Triple Jump
  • Vashaun Williams’ performances earned him 1st place in the Boy’s Long Jump and 2nd place in the High Jump
  • In the Girl’s Long Jump, Cache Simmons finished 1st place
  • Will Lovelace and Horace Lynch attained 2nd and 3rd place in the Boy’s Pole Vault
  • Kerry Reilly achieved 1st place in the 800 Meter Run and 2nd place in the 1600 Meter Run
  • Joseph Salerno finished 2nd place in the Boy’s 3200 Meter Run
  • Janine Dacre and Stephanie Brower acquired 3rd place in the Girl’s Long Jump and Girl’s High Jump
  • Wiregrass Ranch Girls Julia Blankenbaker, Brenna Moran, Abbie Dodge, and Kerry Reilly won the 4×800 Meter Relay
  • Emily Beasley finished 2nd place in the Girl’s 100 Meter Hurdles
  • Kyra Swain got 1st place in the 200 Meter Dash

The next competition for the Bulls will be the District Meet at Wharton High School on April 20th.
