Wesley Chapel Welcomes Largest Ice Complex in Southeast U.S

In the fall of 2017, the Florida Hospital Center Ice rink and sports facility will be open to the public. The rink is deemed to be the largest ice complex in southeast, being a total of two stories that make up 150,000 square feet.

The ice rink will be welcoming hockey players in the area and from all across the country to test their skills. World class figure skaters and sports enthusiasts will be able to come and enjoy all the center has to offer as well.

Denyse Bales-Chubb, President and CEO of Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel, talks about why the hospital is choosing to support the center.

“Florida Hospital is committed to supporting our community in Wesley Chapel and throughout Tampa Bay. The ice and sports complex is a natural fit for us because of our dedication to wellness and our sports medicine and athletic performance programs,” says Denyse.

The center will have four full sized rinks and one kid-sized rink. There is also a multipurpose floor that can be converted to ice for large events they host. Activities at the rink will include public skating for all, learn to skate classes, ice hockey, figure skating, curling, birthday parties, corporate events, short track, hockey academy, and sports performance.

The rink has programs and organizations to help impact and improve the health and wellness of youth and adult hockey players. This also includes their sports performance and injury prevention platforms in which they use certified trainers and administrators.

Wiregrass Ranch High School (WRHS) senior Taylor Forgas talks about the opening of the rink.

“I find it funny that Florida will be the state known for the largest ice rink in southeast U.S considering you never really hear about ice skating in Florida, but I am super excited to go when it opens,” explained Forgas.

The ice center will be posting on social media keeping the community updated on when it will be finished and ready to open.
