Out of the many albums of 2019, here are my personal favorite Hip Hop/Rap albums of the year.

1. Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial (Roddy Ricch)

2019 was a breakout year for Roddy Ricch. In December of 2019, Roddy dropped his debut album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 100. This album featured several artists such as Meek Mill, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk, Gunna. Roddy’s most popular song on the album is titled “The Box” which was popular before he even released the song due to a viral Tik Tok showcasing the song. One of my personal favorites is “Tip Toe” featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. This song peaked at #73 on the Billboard top 200.

2. So Much Fun (Young Thug)

At the #2 spot on my list is Young Thug’s album, So Much Fun.  He released this version of the album in August of 2019. I have to be honest, I was not completely sold on the idea of Young Thug as he would talk about things some might consider “weird”. However, the more I listened to Young Thug, the more I learned to appreciated his music. Thug dropped a deluxe version of So Much Fun in December of 2019 that has an additional five songs. Some of these additional songs include “I’m Scared,” featuring 21 Savage and Doeboy and “Surf”.

The most popular song on the album is “Hot” featuring Gunna, which peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. This album features Gunna, Travis Scott, Future, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Juice WRLD, and many more artists. My personal favorite song on the album is “Big Tipper” featuring Lil Keed. Unfortunately ‘”Big Tipper” did not make the Billboards, although I feel it was overlooked.

3. Death Race for Love (Juice WRLD)

At the #3 spot comes Juice WRLD’s album Death Race for Love. Unfortunately in December of 2019, Juice WRLD passed away after having a seizure while on a plane. Death Race for Love features songs such as “Hear Me Calling” and “Empty”. Death Race for Love sold over 43,000 copies in its first week making it the #1 album at the time of its release. Juice WRLD’s music streams skyrocketed 453% after his death and are continuing to rise. In my opinion, not only was Juice one of the best artists out, but he was one of the most influential, making it okay for people to be able to express how they feel.

The top three albums are not only some of my favorite albums, but they are some of the best selling albums in 2019, leaving a major mark on the year.
