The everlasting greatness of Fortnite
Fortnite has shocked the world and has continuously grown in popularity, why?

Since it’s release in 2017, Fortnite: Battle Royale has taken over the world. Attracting millions of players every day, the game seems to be growing more popular. The game is simple, drop onto the island, and try to be the last player standing.
Just like every other thing that has become insanely popular before it, Fortnite has gained a following of “haters”, people who hate the game and everything about it. Whether it be the game’s dances (“emotes” in game), the community behind it, or the streamers making millions by playing it everyday, almost every aspect of the phenomenon has a group of haters.

Trends don’t usually last very long, especially on the internet. After about a month of insane popularity, people (including myself) gave Fortnite about a month before it fell off and lost it’s spot as the number one game in the world. To my surprise, the game hasn’t only kept it’s popularity, it’s grown; the Subreddit, r/FortniteBR, just crossed 1 million subscribers, the game recently had over 1 million concurrent viewers on Twitch, and the game keeps pulling in money like it’s nothing.

The Season 7 skins
Personally, I love the game. I find it to be a great way to cool down and chill out for an hour or two with some friends and hang out. Along with playing with my friends, I have also met some really cool people through playing the game. This, I think, is why the game has stayed on top as long as it has; while the gameplay is what draws people in, it’s the people and the community that keeps people coming back. There will be days that I have no intention of playing, but when one of my friends texts me and asks if I want to get on, I’ll gladly start playing and waste half a day playing the game.
I think that Fortnite still has a long time before it loses the majority of it’s players, and until that point, I will gladly be playing the game with all of my friends.
