Bulls Win Upset in Opening Game
In their first football game of the season, Wiregrass Ranch High School (WRHS) upset the Zephyrhills Bulldogs (ZHS) 43-8 in a blowout road victory.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Wiregrass offense exploded. The Bulls had five total rushing touchdowns, with running back Daquion “DaDa” McGee scoring two of them and rushing for more yards than the entire Zephyrhills offense at 210 yards.
Quarterback Chris Faddoul completed five passes out of only ten attempts, also throwing a touchdown to wide receiver Jacob Hill.
The Bulls defense also impressed, pressuring Bulldogs quarterback on nearly every play. At a total, Wiregrass amassed three sacks in the game. The Zephyrhills offense could not get anything going thanks to the Wiregrass defensive line.
“Defensively, we played fantastic tonight and the running game, that’s what they’re built for.” Head Coach Mike Kantor of WRHS told the Tampa Bay Times after the game.
In Joe Pinko’s Weekly Game Forecast, Zephyrhills was favored over Wiregrass Ranch by eleven.
