Obama’s Reaction to offensive tweets on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”
President Barack Obama made a second appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s series, “Celebrities Read Mean tweets,” entertaining Kimmel’s audience as he responded to offensive tweets about himself.
After only ten days, the video already has 14,060,774 views, and is continuously increasing,
One of the insulting tweets directed toward Obama was, “Barack Obama dances like how his jeans look.” The tweet included a photo of Obama wearing “dad casual” denim pants, taken years ago.
After reading that tweet aloud and viewing the picture, he responded with, ““You know, this jeans thing — this is so old. This is years ago, c’mon.”
Another user asked, “Barack Obama, bro, do you even lift?” Humorously, president Obama replied, “Well, I lifted the ban on Cuban cigars. That’s worth something.”
The majority of the insulting comments were publicly tweeted by teenagers, simply trying to make funny jokes. However, the next tweet Obama read, was stated by presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States,” Trump posted.
Obama’s reaction was, “”Really? Well, @realDonaldTrump, at least I will go down as a president.”
After reading Trump’s negative comment, Kimmel asked Obama for his opinion on the candidate. When asked if he ever laughs while watching Trump during the debates, Obama said, “Most of the time.”
The new edition of Obama reading mean tweets, is pretty similar to the original one from March, 2015. In both videos, he read tweets selected by Jimmy Kimmel out loud and responded to them. In both editions, Obama found the tweets very humorous rather than offensive.
Overall, Obama took all of these insults very well. He did not get offended by them, nor did he go over-board with the come-backs.
