Semi Professional – Premier League 4/1-4/2

The 30th week of the Premier League had important fixtures and results that could make the title race a lot more interesting and the relegation battle very tight.

League leaders Chelsea suffered a shocking loss to 16th place Crystal Palace. Palace came out victorious with a 2-1 win. The victory was unexpected as Chelsea have been in good form lately and dominated the match throughout. Chelsea’s lead at the top was cut to 9 points with 8 games left in the season.

Manchester City took on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in a very important game for both. Man City were in good form and the heavy favorites as Arsenal have lost 3 of their last 5 premier League games. The game was tight throughout and stayed even as it ended 2-2.

The Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton was highly anticipated with both teams performing well. Romelu Lukaku of Everton is the Premier League’s top scorer with 21 goals and was seen as a major threat for Liverpool. Sadio Mane scored within the first minutes of the game, but Everton responded swiftly. Liverpool gained control before the halftime whistle as Philippe Coutihno danced through Everton’s defense and curled the ball in the far corner. Liverpool went on to win 3-1 comfortably.

Leicester City took three points in a 2-0 win over Stoke City. Leicester are on the rise as they controversially sacked their Premier League winning manager Claudio Ranieri when they were in 17th place. Six games later under new boss Craig Shakespeare, Leicester is now in 11th place with 36 points. Shakespeare has restored confidence in the squad and they look better every week.

Second place, Tottenham Hotspurs won 2-0 against Burnley as their quest to catch up to Chelsea at the top is becoming more of a reality with seven games left. Spurs are quietly catching up from being behind seven points, as the race for the top is getting more intense.
